With holiday sales in full force this week and next, please put Takoma Elementary School, a Title I school only a few miles away, on your shopping list! For years, the Lafayette community has supported our neighbors across Georgia Avenue during the holiday season helping to provide gifts for the 100 or so Takoma families who need gift-giving support.
If you would like to donate a gift basket/bag, you can sign up HERE and take advantage of the upcoming sales! The Takoma counselors and social workers have listed the families with info about the children you are buying for. Lafayette Gives Back will send more information next week with the deadline (probably 12/12) and a collection point for the gift baskets in the Lafayette neighborhood. Thank you for your generous support of this annual gift drive!
Meanwhile, the Coat Drive is going strong! Thank you to everyone who has donated winter gear already! The box to collect needed items to families at both Lafayette and Takoma Elementary will be at the front of school for gently used (or new) items: jackets, hoodies, sweatshirts, winter hats, gloves, scarves, warm socks will be out until Winter Break. We thank you for making sure that items are in dignity condition with no stains or rips.
