FOLP Fall Clean Up Day
Our beautiful Lafayette-Pointer Park is a cherished meeting ground for Chevy Chase residents. The Friends of Lafayette-Pointer Park (FOLP) maintain the perimeter gardens at the park and are dedicated to improving the park’s functionality and beauty. FOLP is hosting a Lafayette-Pointer Park Fall Clean-Up Day on December 7th and they need your help! We’ll pick up trash, rake leaves, clear brush, cut back bushes, etc.
Here is how YOU can help:
- Show up to the picnic tables near the Rec Center on Saturday, December 7th, anytime from 9am – 12pm
- Stay for 30 minutes or stay for 3 hours
- Bring gardening shears or clippers (if you have them) and gloves
- Rakes and trash bags will be provided
- Service hours provided for students
- Kids are welcome, and everyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Donate money to FOLP if you can’t make it and still want to help: https://thefolp.org
Fundraiser!
Hi Lafayette! My name is Mira Kallmer and I am a 2023 graduate. For my Bat Mitzvah service project, I volunteered at Star Gazing Farm, an animal sanctuary for retired and abused animals. All of the animals have free range of the farm. There are alpacas, llamas, chickens, goats, bunnies, cats, dogs, a horse, a miniature pony, cows, and pigs. I got to take care of the animals by grooming them, cleaning their pens, and feeding them. It was really fun!
To continue to support Star Gazing Farm, I am holding a bake sale with a few of my friends to raise money for the care of a couple of the animals. All proceeds go to the farm. If you are interested, the bake sale will be held in front of Broad Branch Market from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm on November 24. Thank you for your support!
