ifer Lilintahl and husband, Michael co-own three DMV locations of SafeSplash Swim School in Friendship Heights, Columbia Heights and Montgomery Village. We are a learn-to-swim school for all ages and abilities. Our instructors are mostly former competitive swimmers and are trained in our curriculum that focuses on teaching proper form, safety and developing a life-long love of swimming.
What is your connection to Lafayette Elementary School?
Michael and I live in Barnaby Woods and we’re parents to a Lafayette second grader, Anabel. Our younger daughter, Sasha, will start at Lafayette next fall in kindergarten. We’ve been supporters of Lafayette in the past, prior to being a Lafayette family ourselves.
How does your organization engage with/support the Lafayette community?
We are proud to have taught so many Lafayette students how to swim! Many of our current and former swimmers attend Lafayette. We love being part of the Lafayette community now and it’s so much fun to know so many families through our business.
What is your favorite Lafayette tradition?
This is our first year as a Lafayette family and we’re quickly getting acclimated to the amazing community. We’ve had a blast at the Fall Festival in prior years so, for now, that is our favorite tradition. We’re sure there will be others!
What is your favorite thing to do in the neighborhood?
We like to play at the Lafayette playground, go to Broad Branch for mac and cheese and slushies, and then run into lots of our friends while we’re sitting outside on the benches.
