Lafayette is eager to bring back Girls on the Run for the Fall 2024 season and we need your help! While we have 4 wonderful teachers interested in coaching for Spring 2024, we do not yet have teacher or community coaches for the Fall 2024 season. We are looking for interested parents or other neighbors and community members to serve as coaches to run the Fall practices.
Girls on the Run (GOTR) will take place over 8 weeks from Week 1 of September 30th through October 4th through the celebratory 5k run on Sunday, November 24th and consist of two 75-minute practices per week for eight weeks. If we can identify 2 coaches to serve 2x per week, or 4 coaches to serve each 1x per week we can move forward with a Fall season with a full coaching roster; 2 adults must be in attendance at each GOTR practice.

What is Girls on the Run? – Girls On the Run is a nonprofit organization that promotes physical fitness, emotional health, and empowerment for young girls, typically in grades 3 through 8. The program combines running with lessons that foster confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills. Through a structured curriculum, participants engage in activities that teach life skills such as setting goals, managing emotions, resolving conflicts, and building self-esteem. The program culminates in a celebratory 5K run, giving the girls a tangible sense of accomplishment and reinforcing the values of perseverance and physical activity. It aims to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident, focusing on their overall well-being. More information is available on the GOTR website: www.girlsontherun.org
