DCPS Policies

 At Lafayette:

  • Students will place any personal devices they may bring to school (smartwatches, phones, tablets, etc.) in their backpacks when they arrive at school, prior to 8:45am.
  • Devices will be powered off.
  • Student devices should remain in their backpacks until school is dismissed, after 3:15pm.

Families can support implementation of this policy by refraining from contacting their children during the school day on their personal devices and by refraining from asking their children to use their personal devices to contact them. Consequences for students that do not follow the expectations will align with DCMR Chapter 25.
